Hi, Iā€™m August Smith.

As an educator and parent, I know how it feels when your little one is struggling in school. I understand that frustration. It's tough watching your child suffer and not being able to help. Bookish Literacy Center was created for parents like you! We offer the extra help and support that struggling students need to catch up, as well as fun and enriching activities for advanced students. Whether your child is behind or ahead of their peers, we can tailor our programs to benefit them!

My BIO

August Smith is a professional who has the skill and passion necessary to improve academic success. As a leader with 16+ years of teaching and school leadership experience, August has an extensive background in culture/climate school transformations and enjoyed every moment of leveraging that to ensure her elementary students reached their highest-performing potential.

Prior to launching her tutoring center amidst the pandemic in 2020, August worked as a teacher, assistant principal and principal for the third-largest school district in the country. Furthermore, she holds a BS in Marketing from Hampton University, an M.Ed. from National Louis University, and was admitted into the highly selective University of Illinois' Urban Education Leadership EdD program where she earned her administration endorsement. With this as her base, August quickly began reforming school structures and improving learning outcomes.

August is happiest when she's able to see children flourish and grow academically. She does this at the Bookish Literacy Center, where she encourages kids to think critically and independently. She loves seeing children succeed, and her energy and reputation have led her to be an accredited educator who strives to continuously raise standards for her students, community, and the education system.
